Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Chamber?
The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit business organization established in 1931 to serve the business community. We direct programs and events that ensure that Maplewood continues to be an attractive place for businesses to locate and be successful.
Who joins the Chamber?
Members include home-based businesses of only one or two employees to large corporations with over 500 employees. The majority of our businesses are located within the City of Maplewood, however, the Chamber does have members from all over the metropolitan area.
What’s in it for my business?
The Chamber gives you numerous opportunities to broaden your business contacts and referrals, have access to low and no-cost marketing opportunities and build professional relationships with community and business leaders. We also help our members do business by regularly providing referrals, highlighting members in our business directory and through our Chamber Exchange Program. Finally, when you join the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce, you are investing in Maplewood’s future.
How is the Chamber different from the City of Maplewood?
The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce is not a government entity. We are a non-profit organization that is governed by a Board of Directors made up of elected Chamber Members. However, we work closely with local government on business related issues and serve as a voice for the business community.
What makes the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce different than other Chambers?
Everything! The diversity of our businesses is reflected in our Chamber. In Maplewood, you will find a community of business owners who are in touch with one another and root for each others’ success. They take pride in their city and make decisions with the greater good of Maplewood in mind. While the Maplewood Chamber provides the typical programs and services you would find in another Chamber, at times we take a creative approach! A networking event could be a bike ride from Maplewood to Forest Park accompanied by the City Manager giving us the latest on City news. A business after hours may be a barbeque at Deer Creek Park. We Facebook and we tweet--anything to stay connected to our members!
I don’t know if I can afford to join The Chamber.
Yes, you can! In fact, Chamber memberships don’t cost-they pay!
A Chamber of Commerce membership is an investment, not a contribution. The cost is certainly small when compared to the returns made possible by aggressive, united action through your Chamber. Growing your business is our business!
